Club de Golf Costa Brava
Description
Opened in 1968, the Costa Brava Golf Club is one of the oldest in Catalunya. It is located on a spacious estate in the heart of the Costa Brava. The course, which has 18 holes (par 70), is divided into two clearly distinct parts. The first 9 holes are set among pines and cork oaks in a landscape with mounds and narrow fairways requiring a good technique in the approach shots. In contrast, the other 9 holes are on flatter terrain with broad fairways where players can relax a little at the end of the round. The facilities include two putting greens, a practice range, an approach area and a warm-up net. There are also classes available for beginners. The clubhouse at the Golf Costa Brava is in a restored late 19th-century farmhouse. The restaurant specialises in Mediterranean cuisine and paellas. One of the unusual features of Golf Costa Brava is its bridge club, which organises classes and pools all year round.
Club Golf d’Aro
Description
The Golf d’Aro is one of the oldest in the Empordà region. It is located in a wooded area of les Gavarres, just a few minutes from Platja d’Aro, one of the best known towns on the Costa Brava. Its activities continue throughout the winter months, thanks to the golf lovers from neighbouring areas who visit all year round. The golf course has 18 holes (par 72) and opened in 1990. It was designed by Ramon Espinosa at a height of 300 metres in an area of pines, olive trees and holm oaks, with a slight slope. From the course you can see Platja d’Aro in the distance, and there are magnificent views of the Mediterranean. In 1992 the European Society of Golf Course Architects considered it the best course in Europe. This prestige has continued to the present day thanks to its attractive natural setting, which includes two artificial lakes. Among its facilities are a shop , golf school, practice range and the clubhouse, a refurbished farmhouse dating from 1870. This is the site of the restaurant, which has its own well-stocked wine cellar.
